Since Provisioning Server is such a key component to a XenDesktop implementation, I started gathering key sources of information on Provisioning Server implementation, configuration, and availability best practices. After playing around in the lab with Provisioning Server I felt that there was some additional considerations lacking. Thus, my search for further information.

This information is helpful if you also planned on using Provisioning Server for XenApp or in the datacenter for other types of servers.

There is some excellent information from articles as well as Citrite Bloggers. Here are a few links that I’ve gathered and wanted to share.

Daniel Feller has a great set of Provisioning Server Best Practices that he has been blogging about.

Elizabeth Texeira has a great four part series on Provisioning Services High Availability Considerations.

    Hi, Daniel and Elizabeth!

I miss y’all! Question- Can you tell me why the CPVS 5.1, SP2 Install and Config Guide says,”Citrix recommends that the Master Target Device is a member of the Active Directory domain, and that the host name is not used as the target device name.” Why is there a problem using a devices’ AD hostname also as the device name in the CPVS database?

It seems to me to be the best way to organize and provide a “mental link” between the virtual and the physical is to keep the AD hostname the same as the CPVS device name. Can this practice cause a technical issue? Why is this not a “best practice”?i

    Thanks, Marc
